What is Health & Wellness Coaching?

“There is no greater honor or privilege than facilitating the process of healing for someone, to bear witness, to reach out a hand, to share the burden of someone’s suffering, and to hold and hope for their recovery” - Dr Eleanor Longden

What does the word “wellness” mean to you? I identify wellness as a person’s optimized view  of health and well-being. As we grow through life, many factors can accelerate or deteriorate  one’s health and wellness. It is a continual ebb and flow, nothing is linear, and we must respect  that. When one notices they may need to dive into a lifestyle change, they may not know  where to begin. Perhaps your primary care physician said more movement or better sleep  needs to be included in your life, but you’re not quite sure where to start, what do you do?  That’s where I come in!

Health and wellness coaching is a practice that is client-motivated. Are you looking for support  and guidance in your lifestyle change?

Wellness coaches extend their provider’s reach by offering individualized guidance and support  in implementing therapeutic plans and working through the day-to-day challenges that arise in  a client’s journey toward health and well-being.

As a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) I provide support in  lifestyle factors that include sleep& relaxation, exercise & movement, nutrition, stress, and  relationships. These can all be mapped out by what I like to call the “matrix”. The Matrix is unique to each person, it’s your story. It helps me understand your health timeline. The ebb and  flow of your life. Together, we will look into all aspects on the matrix and create a unique  treatment plan which will help balance the unbalanced.

Let’s say your doctor would like you to walk 1 mile every day for cardiovascular health, but you work the standard 40+ hr week with commuting to and from work. Where do you fit in time to walk a mile every day? Working with a coach lets a fresh perspective enter your life. We break things down, ask questions, and get to the bottom of it. For example: You have to walk a mile a day? What do you think of that? What would be more feasible for your schedule right now that can assist with this goal? How ready are you to commit to this? We ask you the important questions that pivot your focus onto you, your body, your health, what you can control, and how to get you here. My goal as a coach is to provide the right tools and mindset for healthier living. Whether I work with you for 2 months, 6 months, or a whole year, that is up to you. My prerogative is to not have you rely on me weekly or monthly for the rest of your life. See me as training wheels. The wheels come off when you’re ready. I’ll always be here for you, but I want you to thrive!

My passion has always been supporting those around me. I feel it is a natural inhibition and I  love being there for my friends, family, and clients. As your coach I will provide you with open  ears, open heart, and a unique wellness plan that fits your lifestyle. Your wellness comes from you, and I look forward to guiding and supporting you while working towards your goals.
